This system will eliminate most of the flooding conditions that we have often seen here in the past. Grading continues on top of the Storm Tech system, where a multi-use playing field will eventually be completed, seeded, and available for public uses next year (after turf has become established). We are also seeing an extension to the park’s parking lot being carved out by grading equipment on the lot’s east end.
The shelter house’s facelift continues. The cupola’s shell is complete, although it will eventually have windows on its north and south sides to provide additional light. Steel beams have been installed over the garage door openings; these will eventually support new glass “barn style” doors that will slide open in replacement of the existing garage style doors. A small portion of the east end of the shelter house, that houses the old restrooms, is being demolished, and a footing will soon be poured for a new section of the building that will house a kitchenette area and accessible restrooms. Other carpentry work is ongoing inside and outside the shelter to later support the installation of siding and stone materials to enhance the shelter’s appearance.
