Grandview Heights has been a Tree City U.S.A. for 36 years and city officials are making a strong forward-thinking commitment to our urban forestry program. The City has prioritized identifying, counting, and categorizing the city’s inventory of street trees and have provided the financial resources in the 2020 budget to start executing this vision. City Administration will propose continuing this momentum by including this item in future capital budget requests to City Council as part of a long-term plan. The Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the first step of this plan is ready to start.

Russell Tree Experts LLC and the Davey Tree Company have been contracted to complete clearance pruning of City right-of-way trees as part of the program. Beginning the week of January 20th, the focus of the work will be to address height clearance over sidewalks and roadways. Specifications of the work call for sidewalk clearance to be a minimum of 8 feet above the sidewalk, 14 feet above the roadway and 3 feet of any signage. The work area includes streets East of Grandview Ave. to Northwest Blvd, between 3rd Ave. & Goodale Blvd. (see attached maps). In total approximately 1500 trees will be addressed or 49% of the City’s inventory. No Parking restrictions will be posted based on areas that are scheduled to be addressed by day (weather permitting). Parking restrictions will be removed shortly after work is completed. For the safety of pedestrians, traffic and contractors please do not enter work areas; traffic flow will be maintained. If you have questions please contact the Parks and Recreation Department Maintenance Division at 614-481-6201.

City officials and our contractors are committed to put forth their best effort to accomplish this important start with minimal disruption to our residents.
